Nozzle ICD Screen
SCREEN WITH HIGH STRENGTH NOZZLES FOR INFLOW REGULATION
The ICD (Inflow Control Device) screen is designed to balance the producing profiles and delay the water influx of horizontal wells by regulating flow entrance through orifices.
The device includes a nozzle joint with a MGC (Multi-Grade Combined) screen joint, various amount (2-8) of nozzles could be installed onto one joint according to the completion design. The nozzles are made of tungsten-cobalt alloy with high anti-abrasion capacity, the diameters of nozzles ranges from 1.6mm to 5.0mm, enabling a wide range of pressure drop design.
The MGC screen is designed to provide maximum anti-plugging performance, according to the sand control requirements, it could be replaced with premium screens or other types of screens.
The whole screen device contains no moving parts and is robust enough for long term service.
Applications:
- Sand control and inflow control in horizontal wells.
Features:
- High strength tungsten-cobalt alloy nozzle.
- Screen made of 316L steel
- Vairous nozzle diameters and amount per joint available.
Benefits
- Maximum robustness with anti-abrasion nozzles and high strength screens.
- Reliable inflow control performance.
Pressure VS. Rate Data
Abundant tests have been conducted to dertermine the pressure drop data of the ICD screens, a flow test device has been built for this purpose, the test fluids include water and white oil, and the test results are shown in the graphs below.
The nozzle generates similar pressure drop to water and oil, while the restriction to oil is slightly smaller than that of water, the smaller the orifice, the smaller the difference in flow restrictions.
Customized tests shall be performed with field samples for a more accurate ICD completion design.
